On the second day of our Trip we made it to the World Famous Skydeck in Chicago. It was built for the Sears Roebuck company in 1973. It was the tallest building in the world and it held that title for more than 20 years. It still holds the title for the tallest building in North America.
It was known as the Sears tower for most of it’s life, but recently it was renamed the Willis Tower. It is named after the Willis Group, a London based insurance broker. Willis Group is the largest tenant at the Tower.
Our Story
We waited in line for 1 hour and 30 minutes until we finally made it to the top. We walked through 5 different rooms, a revolving door, and a 60 second ride in a tight elevator. The pictures don’t do it justice. It is sooo high above the ground. On a clear day, you are able to see 4 states. Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Check out some of our photos from the Top floor.
