On this weekend, Bowling Green Ohio is known as PULLTOWN U.S.A. (it’s a big deal)
First: Why did we title this post Full Pull?
When a truck or tractor pulls the “full” length of the track; 300 feet, it is considered a full pull. The announcers have exclaimed this line (fuuulll puuull) since the inception of Tractor Pulling. Basically, it’s a tradition and the crowd screams FULL PULL with the announcer.
Second: How did we get front row seats?
We were blessed to have good friends. Katie’s coworker Missy and her husband Earl is a tech official for the NTPA. (National Tractor Pulling Association, they run the event). We have to throw a huge thank you to them. We got backstage passes to really see how a tractor pull runs. I thought it was a simple sport, but I was totally wrong. People are passionate about tractor pulling. (to say the least) They spend a TON of money on their tractors. Yes Mom, you should feel lucky with Dad and racing. 5 Big block with turbos and blowers can get expensive. (so I’ve heard)
People from around the World
There were competitors from California to the Netherlands. There were fans that traveled over 850 miles just to see it. We may have made a joke about the Tractor Pull, but surprisingly, it was exciting and extremely enjoyable thanks to our backstage passes and front row seats. Thanks again Missy and Earl it was an awesome experience.
