We were able to make it the the NASCAR race 2 weekends ago with Dan. It was a great day to make it to the raceway. It was really hot, but I was only slightly sun burnt. (Katie is not sun burnt, just me)
MIS is about 90 minutes up the road in Michigan. Some people have been to a NASCAR race, but for those that haven’t it’s like the Demolition Derby in Price, with about 150,000 people packed into the race track. All of the wonderful rednecks come out of the wood works. It made us feel like home!
By the way NASCAR is a merchandising corporate machine. They sell A LOT of programs and shirts at these events. They market their athletes/drivers better than any sport out there. NASCAR has the strongest affinity to corporate sponsors. One of the strongest marketing “vehicles” in sports.
Here is a video from our seats. We were 4 rows from the track, about 200 yards before the finish line. We were sitting in the perfect place. That cars were right in front of us when they would wave the green flag. It was much louder than I thought it would be. It did smell like the race track at home; burning gasoline, hot tires. It made me miss the races during the summer.
Here are a few photos from the race.
